The pile runs pale sage under a matte trichome coat, heavy but dusty rather than glittering, and the true green only turns up on leaf tips folded down between buds. Orange is the loud part. Short curled pistils, rust at the root and brighter at the tip, lie across almost every face instead of hiding in the seams. Shapes are mixed: the bud through the middle of the frame runs long and tapered, while the ones stacked around it are smaller and knobbier, sitting tight with next to no air between. Pale snapped stems show here and there where buds came off the branch. Whoever trimmed it stopped a shade short of perfect, which beats a bud shaved down to nothing.

Living soil means the plant was grown in a reused, biologically active bed , not an inert medium fed from a bottle. The grower amends that bed with organic inputs — compost, kelp, insect frass — and a population of bacteria, fungi and worms breaks them down into forms roots can take up. The bed is not thrown out between runs; it gets replanted and topped up, sometimes for years. That is the honest content of the label: how the plant was fed.

Now the part that gets oversold. A sloppy bed makes worse flower than a well-run room on bottled feed, so the method on its own guarantees nothing. It says nothing about terpene load and nothing about drying and curing, the stage that decides how your flower smells three weeks in. Growers make claims about ash colour on soil-grown material too, and we do not test for that.

Do not buy this one for the label alone.

What does LSO Lemon Cherry smell and taste like?

Sharper on the nose than on the exhale. Lemon rind first, then a darker sweet note under it, closer to stone fruit than to candy, and it opens up the moment a bud is cracked.
