Frosted Cherry sits at the AAAA end of our flower shelf, sold as whole buds in 7G, 14G and 28G, all three live as this page goes up. There is no certificate for this lot, which means no percentage anywhere on this page. We would rather leave the gap open than fill it with a number we made up. Flower is bagged in 7G and 28G units: a 7G order comes as one bag, 14G as two 7G bags, and 28G as a single 28G bag.

Colour is what registers first. The base is pale sage, pushed toward grey by the frost sitting on it, and dusty mauve runs through many of the buds — deep plum on a few, barely a tint on others. Orange pistils thread through the seams rather than blanketing the surface, short and wiry. The nugs are blocky and knuckled instead of tapered, tight, without the airy gaps a loose bud leaves. Trim is close but not surgical — sugar leaf tips sit inside the flower, and a pale stem end shows at one edge. Sweet with a sharp edge is how we would put the smell — our nose, not a spec sheet.

What you are actually getting with Frosted Cherry

• The purple is uneven, and we would rather say so up front — inside this one batch the colour runs from pale sage through dusty mauve to deep plum, so two buds out of the same handful can read as two different strains. Take the photo as a sample of the lot, not a promise about every bud in it.
• Whole buds, and nothing below 7G — grams are the only unit we quote, here and on every other flower listing we keep. Structure backs that up: the nugs are blocky and knuckled rather than tapered, dense enough that one holds its shape when you press it instead of folding flat.
• It reads as an evening one to us — heavy and slow , not bright, better at the end of a day than the start. That is one shop's read on one lot, though, and somebody who smokes it at eleven on a Sunday morning will tell you something else entirely.

What frost on a bud is, and what it cannot tell you

It is not dust and it is not sugar. Those are trichomes: tiny resin glands standing on the flower and the small leaves around it, each a clear head on a short stalk. Resin is where a strain's smell lives, which is why frosty flower gets louder the second you break a bud open. The heads are fragile, and they shear off flower that gets shaken or knocked about — rough handling costs a bud its sparkle before it costs anything else.

Here is the part that gets skipped. Frost is not a strength guarantee. You cannot read a percentage off a photograph or off the bud in your palm; coverage is a surface measurement, how much resin is there , not what is inside it. Some of that sparkle is immature heads that never filled, and two lots of one strain can look alike and smoke nothing alike. If you are picking this one mainly because it photographs well, buy something else. A AAA you already like will beat a AAAA chosen with your eyes.

Same grade, same three weights — the choice is not about format. LSO Cherry Paloma is one of our living soil organic lots and this one is not. If growing method is something you buy on, that settles it. Otherwise go on colour and smell, because side by side the two look nothing alike.

What do people say it smells like?

Sweet with a sharp edge, and a duller earthy note underneath once a bud is pulled apart. That is our read and only ours — aroma drifts between lots carrying the same name, so trust your own nose over our sentence.

How do I pay, and will the driver check ID?

Pay by Interac e-Transfer, which carries a 5% fee, or cash on delivery on local orders; a mail order can also be paid by card. Every delivery is 19+ with government-issued photo ID checked at the door. Regulars too.

Can you drive it to me, or does it go in the post?

Depends where you are, and we keep the two words apart. Local GTA delivery lands within 2 hours of order confirmation, 12PM to 10PM, 365 days a year. Outside the GTA we ship Canada-wide by mail order, paid by card or e-Transfer. Ontario takes 99.8% of what we fill, so the driver is the default here and the post is what covers everywhere else.
